Souffles rising high and chocolate creme brulee
Today I am reminiscing about our last trip to France and the opportunity I had to take cooking classes in Paris at Cook’n With Class. Truly a dream come true!
Located in charming Montmartre, tucked in a small side street, the Cook’n with Class building welcomes you. The school guarantees you hands-on training, English-speaking instructors, delicious recipes you can recreate at home, and a fun and entertaining experience.
Their classes run the gamut from learning how to make French breads and croissants to classic French desserts and the always popular macaron. They are limited to 6 to 8 students so you can count on individual attention and the ability to practice new skills with the guidance of a trained instructor.
I took the French Bistro Desserts class where we made Chocolat Crème Brulee, Pate a Choux Religieuse with Rose and Vanilla and Craquelin, Grand Marnier Souffles, Strawberry and Coconut Tart, and the classic French treat, Canneles Bordelais!
There were two couples, another single gal, and me. We took turns working on several different recipes so that everyone had a chance to learn different techniques. It was fun to watch everyone improve with the chef’s help. At the end of the class we tasted all the items we had made and then were sent home with a box of treats to share later.

Two days later I came back and learned to make macarons! They can be tricky but with a few pointers your success rate soars. This class had a mom and her two daughters and another young girl who dreamed of growing up to be a baker or chef. It was so great to see their excitement and the thrill of success on their glowing faces.
We made a single cookie batter, divided into thirds for three different colors and flavors. The defining flavors came from the extraordinary fillings. From a simple chocolate ganache and fresh raspberry jam, to caramel beurre salée and white chocolate lemon ganache, these made our macarons swoon-worthy.

I highly recommend Cook’n with Class for an unforgettable cooking experience. If you are in Provence, they also have a school there! There is nothing quite like taking cooking classes in Paris!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend my friends!
