When I realized that I was posting on Leap Day, I wanted to find something really fun to share with you. I was chatting with a friend, kicking around some ideas when we hit on a great theme …
If you knew that you were going to be able to plan a dream meal to serve once every four years, what would it be?
My friend, who is an avowed cheese-head, decided that her meal would have cheese in every course. So we made out her menu: Starting with cheese fondue, progressing to a five-cheese lasagne and mac and cheese main courses, then for a decadent dessert there is nothing better than a luscious New York-style cheesecake and of course, following the European fashion, a cheese plate to end the meal. She swooned, LOL.
Just think about it, you wouldn’t have to worry about how many calories were in it or whether it was healthy. After all, you’re only going to eat it once every four years! Would you mimic a meal you had at a four-star restaurant or one that you love to have for your birthday or during the holidays? These are some of my ideas for a Dream Leap Year Meal!
If you could choose, would you go all out with an elegant meal with these components?
Or maybe you would prefer a casual summertime meal or barbecue?
You could always choose an elaborate brunch or breakfast …
And then again, perhaps you would eat nothing but desserts?
After dismissing all of the above for myself (no matter how much I love each and every one of those recipes) I decided I would probably go for more casual fare. Perhaps some of these favorites?
And then I realized that what I really would want – anytime I could get it – would be the foods of my childhood, the ones I learned to make with my mother and grandmother. The ones that fill my heart with unbelievable love and bring tears to my eyes when I think of them … these are the foods that I love the most because they remind me of my loved ones who are no longer with me.
Thank you for taking this stroll with me. I would love to hear what your very special meal would be. Feel free to leave comments below.
I hope this brings you as much fun and enjoyment as it did me!
