Our first tomatoes are finally starting to ripen! It has been an unusual summer to say the least. Normally we have weeks of 90+ degree weather. This year we have had a couple of weeks in the 90’s and it’s mostly been in the low 70’s. Unfortunate for tomato growing, but pleasant otherwise. But now our black cherry tomatoes are finally starting to turn reddish-purple and are the most amazingly delicious I’ve ever eaten! Truly indescribable.
Yippee!!
Ripening on the vine!
One of our first Black Cherries – isn’t it beautiful!
Aren’t they amazing Randy! The few we’ve gotten so far have been better than any I’ve ever eaten. The problem with conventional tomatoes is that they have been bred with thicker skins to protect them during transportation and they pick them while they’re still green so they won’t bruise as easily. They can never be as good as those ripened on the vine!

Nothing sweeter than home grown, it’s amazing what sacrifices of taste have been made in the name of mechanical harvesting.
