It seems appropriate, since I am a baker, that we had 13 giveaways in this blogiversary celebration, a Baker’s Dozen! This is the final contest and it has been so much fun giving away all these wonderful prizes!
Today’s package is filled with tools to help you Amp Up Your Blog! There are two books from people I admire tremendously. Matt and Dianne are both experts in their fields and have given a ton of hints and tips to help us in their books. And we are finishing with the most generous prize of them all … the woman who is currently redesigning my website, Kristy of Peppercorn Creative, has offered to do a full evaluation of your own site! She will give you ideas of ways you can improve it to get more traffic, draw repeat readers, and build your brand. And if you enjoy working with her as much as I do, you may just decide that your blog could use some sprucing up.
You will see my new and improved site in a few weeks and I know you will love it as much as I do. It has been exciting watching my dreams and ideas come to life! After five years of blogging it was time for a major upgrade, get the blog fully responsive for mobile devices, and make it easier for you to navigate and find anything you are looking for! And, thanks to Kristy’s talents, the photos will really pop off the page! I’m going to have to study Matt’s book again and up my game, LOL.
I have to thank all of the amazing sponsors who donated prizes for you guys. Hugs and gratitude to Gourmet Garden, Sabra Dipping Company, ZWILLING J.A. Henckels, Organic Valley, Peppercorn Creative, Marx Foods, Anolon, Circulon, Beaverton Foods, Cake Boss Baking, and Microplane.
I want to thank each and every one of you for following and reading The Heritage Cook. I appreciate you sticking around and joining the Heritage Cook family when I had to change to a gluten-free diet. I am so grateful for your support and hope that you will continue to enjoy the recipes and stories I share and the evolution that inevitably happens in any creative endeavor. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be living the life I am and having my dreams come true!

Focus On Food Photography for Bloggers by Matt Armendariz
Sharing your kitchen concoctions on your personal food blog has never been as popular as it is right now, but if you’ve ever had trouble getting your tasty temptations to look like pretty plates on camera, you know how difficult it can be to take amazing pictures of food. Matt Armendariz, of Mattbites food blog fame, shares his experiences and best practices for creating wonderful food photos in Focus On Food Photography for Bloggers. Written specifically for you the blogger, Matt discusses the ins and outs of equipment, lighting, composition, propping, sparking your inspiration, and getting creative, all with what you have on hand at home! Learn how to avoid common pitfalls with foods that are notoriously camera shy, how to successfully snap your dinner at a restaurant as well as on your kitchen table, and how to style your food with what you have in your cupboards. He also includes advice on post-processing, posting, and protecting your prized images.
To learn even more about Matt, take a look at this wonderful interview done by the ever talented David Lebovitz and tell me you wouldn’t give your eye teeth to be sharing a meal with those two incredibly talented and delightful men!

Need to work on a consistent schedule!

My editorial calendar is the only way I can keep anything straight!

I definitely need marketing help!
Jane Bonacci
I do too Emily, any tips would be a help to me too!
dari
I need help improving photography and writing skills.
Jane Bonacci
I am loving learning photography again Dari – it was a long time since I had done any real shooting when I started the blog.

I would like to be able to write better.

It is truly an art Terri. I’m not very good, but I keep trying to improve!
Tara
Writing is always a challenge for me.
Jane Bonacci
It took me a couple of years of solid writing before I got more comfortable with it. It doesn’t come naturally to me either Tara.
dena
Styling. Most of my photos are a plate of food. *yawn*
Jane Bonacci
It is truly an art and one I’m still struggling with – there is always more to learn and master!
April
I wish I could improve my photography skills! I’m thinking of taking a photography class, so I can learn about things such as lighting, depth, etc. Thanks so much for all the giveaways, and here’s to many more years of blogging adventures. 🙂
Stephanie Miskew
Happy Blog-a-versary, Jane, and I can’t wait to see your newly revamped site – how exciting and what a fabulous giveaway!

Jane Bonacci

Laura
I wish I was more consistent with posting!
Jane Bonacci
The only thing that keeps me on track is an editorial calendar Laura. If I have it on a list and I know people will be looking for it, I definitely have more incentive to get it done, LOL.
Jordan
When it comes to my blog, there are several things I wish I could do better. I wish I had a background in coding and programming and could easily make changes. I also wish I had more photography experience but I am learning as I go. Above all, I wish I had more time in the day so I could devote more time to working on my blog. It seems I could work on my blog for 80+ hours a week and still have things I could do!
Jane Bonacci
I would be happy to give you some pointers on photography if you want them Jordan, but the best thing is practice and developing your own “eye” and style. I love what you are doing already and can’t wait to watch as you get better and better at it! Having a blog is like having a very demanding mistress – it always wants and needs attention, LOL!
