… And most of all thank you for being my friends.
2011 has been amazing. I had never written anything beyond business communications and casual letters to friends before starting The Heritage Cook in 2010. It took awhile to get into the swing of it, but now I can honestly say I became a writer this year. It is a skill I never realized I had and one that I look forward to honing and improving. The Heritage Cook has opened doors for me that I never even knew existed and introduced me to an incredible world of food people who are incredibly generous. As the business continues to grow, I really look forward to sharing my new adventures with you.
After nearly two years of writing five days a week, starting next week I will be cutting back to three days a week. It has been a wild ride and it will be nice to be able to have a bit of room to breathe again. I will write Chocolate Mondays, Wed/Wines-days and Festive Fridays. It will be nice to have more time to evaluate cookbooks and products, experience new restaurants, work on freelance projects, do more travel and have a chance to visit friend’s blogs, helping to promote their efforts as well.
At the end of the year it is always interesting to see which posts and recipes were most popular. When you write a blog, you are never sure what people will respond to and my fingers are always crossed hoping that what interests me will also entertain my readers. Sometimes I post a recipe I am sure will be a huge hit and it barely even registers. And then something that is kind of ho hum takes off like a rocket. For example, I knew that there would be some people who would find having directions and examples of how to properly set a table helpful, especially at the holidays, but I was stunned when it landed at number 23 on the list. There were many that I expected to see and a few surprises, but it was fun to see which were your favorites.
So, without further ado, here is the list of the top 50 most popular posts and/or recipes for the year 2011 at The Heritage Cook …
